It consists of Malay, Chinese, Tamil, English, Japanese, Spanish, French, Hokkien, Thai, Elven, Orc, Pokemon, Digimon, Mars, Venus, and many more. If a character had an intelligence that permitted additional languages, they could select other races (Elvish, Dwarvish, etc...) and/or other native tounges (which was valuable since much of the gameplay took place in various nations... and language could be a significant barrier).

This made languages an interesting and strategic part of the roleplay experience.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08863118245243138750noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7487871339000666216.post-81155612640211143432011-04-03T13:05:20.881-04:002011-04-03T13:05:20.881-04:00I'm not sure about the fantasy/pulp literature...I'm not sure about the fantasy/pulp literature origins, but the idea of a "common tongue" or lingua franca is at least as old as Latin in the West and Greek in the Byzantine East.Anthonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01254215329246851683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7487871339000666216.post-62457399363011585592011-04-03T12:10:21.704-04:002011-04-03T12:10:21.704-04:00Anyone know where the idea of the 'Common Tong...Anyone know where the idea of the 'Common Tongue' in RPGs and fantasy novels originated from?
