I realized that is the only piece of media I saw 40k before Warhammer. Was the decision to set the universe exactly 40.000 years in the future influenced by Barbarella or where did that number came from?

Nobodi12https://www.blogger.com/profile/03855509321888775545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7487871339000666216.post-19553571086313132132020-11-13T16:38:04.321-05:002020-11-13T16:38:04.321-05:00Thanks for sharing that! Thanks for sharing that!James Maliszewskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00341941102398271464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7487871339000666216.post-39497320748724746852020-11-13T16:26:51.853-05:002020-11-13T16:26:51.853-05:00Here's one of the original advertisements for ...Here's one of the original advertisements for Warhammer 40k, before the system was written. https://i.imgur.com/KUxoGWj.jpgSkerpleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06393779599461560431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7487871339000666216.post-48568412773016332562020-11-13T10:54:01.924-05:002020-11-13T10:54:01.924-05:00The fact that the reason (or at least one of the r...The fact that the reason (or at least one of the reasons) WH40K used traditional fantasy species instead of new scifi species was because it was expected to fail and they wanted people to be able to just retrofit their fantasy models for the game is fascinating to me. I love these historical idiosyncratic moments; if they had thought it would be more successful from the get-go, perhaps it would look more like Star Wars or something else entirely, who knows? To my comparatively limited understanding, WH40K is actually pretty interesting and much more than just "Tolkien in space" as many people describe it and as I used to think of it before learning more about it, and I think it's in part because of these weird historical accidents that we get some of the more interesting facets.maxcan7https://www.blogger.com/profile/12504030224075149157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7487871339000666216.post-43880520455471814662020-11-13T05:33:42.605-05:002020-11-13T05:33:42.605-05:00Great interview and interesting bits to hear!Great interview and interesting bits to hear!David Woodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13447850584097621767noreply@blogger.com
