Robert Asprin, creator of the humorous MythAdventures and co-creator of the Thieves' World shared world anthologies (with his ex-wife Lynn Abbey) has died at the age of 61. Asprin will be remembered by a lot of gamers of a certain age, both because of his involvement with the Society of Creative Anachronism (where he co-founded the Great Dark Horde household) and because the fact that former Dragon magazine cartoonist Phil Foglio illustrated many of his MythAdventures books. But it was Thieves' World for which I will remember him most. I greatly enjoyed those anthologies in the early days, which brought together some of the biggest names in science fiction and fantasy to tell stories about the cutthroats and rogues of the city of Sanctuary. Anyone who loves swords and sorcery tales owes Asprin a debt of thanks for helping to create this series.
Asprin will be missed.
