Solomon Kane Fan Film

In case you haven't seen it yet, here's a short fan-produced film that dramatizes the Robert E. Howard poem, "The Return of Sir Richard Grenville."

  1. I had seen this before and for a fan-film it is pretty well done. I wish that the same production values went into mainstream film making. Sure, it isn't perfect, but it is entertaining.

  2. They are working on a major Kane film right now, and have been filming in Czech R. since last year. They have cast James Purefoy, the guy who plays Mark Anthony on ROME as SK. Great choice - only Ralph Fiennes (sp) and a 30 year-younger Sir Connery would be better picks.

Max Von Sydowe is apparently in the film as Kanes dad.

  3. I love being in the Media Age. It has its downsides in the form of television as the new GroupThink, but the fact that it puts creative power in virtually anyone's hands is staggering. "Channels," as in "you must go through," no longer exist. Want to create your own RPG? You can post it for free and find an audience without being forced to adulterate it so that it will "sell." Same goes for fiction or films. Brilliant time to be alive.

  4. If you want to find out more about the world of fan films, you might want to check out my daily fan film blog, fancinematoday.com. Also, for what it's worth, I wrote the first book about the history and future of fan films, Homemade Hollywood, which just came out in bookstores.

  5. Kanes dad?

I don't remember Kane's dad in any of the stories...It's been awhile since I've read them so I'm not sure of that.

    Nonetheless, it sounds cool.
