Black Blade Publishing has just released issue 4 of
Knockspell, which can be purchased in
print or
PDF format. As usual, there's a great selection of old school gaming goodness to be found within. I'm especially impressed with Jeff Talanian's "Rats in the Walls" adventure and Allan Grohe's discussion of portals, but I've only just begun to read my copy. I'll post a complete review next week once I've had the chance to absorb the whole thing.
Just downloaded the pdf this AM. Matt Finch's megadungeon exploration article alone is worth the price of the issue.

I agree: it's a great article, and offers a lot of insight to both players and referees for how to craft their mega-dungeons, when you reverse-engineer the advice (much like the material at the back of the PHB).
Allan.
Just bought the PDF based on the review here: so far, it looks very good. The cover is quite nice and evocative.
ReplyDeleteUpdate: I've just read the two adventures in this issue ("Rats in the walls," and "Beneath the crossroads," and both were great. Dark fantasy at its best. If this is representative of each issue's quality, then I want a digital subscription.
ReplyDeleteExcellent post. This I why I read your blog.
