Since today's the "official" start of the Christmas shopping season -- or at least it was when I was a kid -- I'd like to know if anyone has any gaming-related gift wishes for themselves or someone on their Christmas list. Other than volume 5 of The Collected Fantasies of Clark Ashton Smith, which isn't precisely gaming-related, I don't have any such wishes myself, but I'm sure at least some of you must. Please feel free to share them.
See you, Saturday.
Hmmm... Wishes for me: A mint 1st edition Call of Cthulhu boxed set. And thanks in advance. :)
ReplyDeleteMandy wants a set of frosted pink dice.
ReplyDeleteI would absolutely love a use-able to fairly good copy of the Rules Cyclopedia : )
ReplyDeleteOh well, better keep dreaming : )
I'd like a copy of Mekton-F, or the promised Gundam translation. I've only been waiting for years ...
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping when I travel back to Fresno for Xmas I can find the box with all my old game books (B/X, PHB, DMG, TMNT) and modules, and then run my niece and nephew (11 and 8) through the Caves of Chaos for the first time. That would make the holiday.
ReplyDeleteI received my Christmas present early (an emergency laptop, a couple of weeks ago) but my goodwyfe might get me a little extra something and I want the latest printing of the S&W Whitebox Boxed Set.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a nice set of Lou Zocchi dice.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to finish up some of my 15MM RPG Sculptures, so that I can get them to my Molder/Caster in early January.
ReplyDeleteA archival-quality framed map of Greyhawk to hang on my wall.
ReplyDeleteI have two maps but am too chicken to have one properly framed, for fear that it'll get messed up.
Ha! I've got the CAS on my own list, too.
ReplyDeleteThat, and Fields of Battle for Castles & Crusades....
Print copies of Oubliette, now that they're finally available.
ReplyDeleteA copy of the Moldvay/Cook/Marsh D&D Expert Book (preferably in good condition - box not necessary). I still don't have one...
ReplyDeleteI missed out on Judges Guild coming up in the game and City State and the Wilderlands are some artifacts I'm still seeking.
ReplyDelete@Anthony: I got one on Amazon for ~$40, just this fall so they still seem available.
More free time and some focus. I have tons of miniatures I need to be working on instead of piddling around on ye old computer.
ReplyDeleteMy main gaming wish is Into the Storm, an expansion for Rogue Trader. My other wish is for my group to organise themselves enough to play Rogue Trader!
ReplyDeleteOther than a g-rated group for my daughter and I to join, that plays all my favorite games? I'm still looking for a reasonably-priced copy of Chaosium's Trollpak. Also I'd like to replace some Call of Cthulhu books I've lost: Gaslight, Dreamlands, Arkham, Orient Express and Beyond the Mountains of Madness. And finally, I'm missing a couple of components to my Chaosium Thieves World set.
ReplyDeleteI already got a gift of sorts. At Thnaksgiving dinner last night, I brought my copy of Ars Magica 5th Edition along, and my niece immediately grabbed it. We ended up geeking over the rules for a while. Great kid, and I categorically refuse to believe she's almost old enough to drink.
ReplyDeleteI've got a couple of AM books on the wishlist, as well as a couple of titles from the WH40K Black Library, but this is going to be a very low budget Hanukkah for everyone. I've been told already that my gift is the San Francisco Giants tattoo that I swore I would get when the team won the World Series.
Ooh unfair James, my friends read this so I'll have to go for stuff that's just too expensive for anyone to buy me; mint Chaosium RQII copies of some of the classic supplements. Cults of Prax, Pavis, The Big Rubble, Borderlands, Griffin Mountain.
ReplyDeleteA battlemat and more cheap plastic miniatures (no thanks to our Unfriendly Local Gaming Store whose business model apparently doesn't include me).
ReplyDeleteI've got a S&W:WB hardback that I love. My son (a 3ed/4ed player) took a look at it and called it "epic" and "so open". So, I'm thinking of getting him the WB boxed set re-release for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteFor me, a mint 0ed LBB box or a mint original Empire of the Petal Throne box would be sweet (but I'd settle for the Tita's House of Games reprint of EPT)...
I need to find out what CAS is not included in Rendezvous in Averoigne (Arkham) and then get those stories.
ReplyDeleteYou know all of CAS's works are public domain, and available free at...

I want the copy of Holmes Basic I dreamed I bought for $5, and which came with a bunch of beautiful complicated dungeon maps drawn in blue ballpoint pen tucked into it.
ReplyDeleteUpdating my Amazon wish list for Christmas, I think I removed all the RPG related stuff. Nothing much out there is really tickling my fancy enough. Except for some of the OSR PDFs (and some older, otherwise out-of-print PDFs), but I usually buy those myself as I come across them.
ReplyDeleteSome bronze/copper and pearloid Gamescience dice would be welcome. As would some precision backgammon dice. (They tend to be very attractive six-siders, but are expensive. Precision with rounded corners isn’t easy.)
Some good (for me) RPG tools for my iPad would be welcome too, but that will probably have to wait (forever) until I get around to writing them myself. ^_^
Then there’s my “way out there” wishes: a copy of Dinky Dungeons and Spanish and Japanese copies of B/X D&D and classic Traveller.
My only game related desire is to have my own rpg start selling. Marketing is something I just don';t have an understanding of.
ReplyDeleteBut, that CAS v5 would be nice too. Only one I can't find anywhere.
I'd like a copy of the B/X Companion, CthulhuTech, and there are a handful of Planet Stories books I want.
ReplyDeleteOoooo! I forgot about the Planet Stories books ! [updates list]...
ReplyDeleteA regular group of players that are open to playing things other than D&D. These days I play with mostly really young guys who only know 3rd/4th ed D&D and online games like WoW.
ReplyDelete"A regular group of players that are open to playing things other than D&D."
ReplyDeleteIn that case, let me add that I'd love to find a group that recognizes there is a life outside of gaming and that playing to 2AM on a work night just isn't practical anymore.
"I've got those 50-something gamer blues..." ;-)
At the risk of crowing, my copy of the 5th volume of the CAS arrived in the mail today; an early gift to myself to make up for the inordinate amount of money spent on my wife and daughter... ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe Wargamers Annual - Volume 2 - though a little birdie at my local Internet bookshop prevented me from placing an order yesterday as he told me that there was already one on its way to my address. Bless her.
ReplyDeleteDungeon Magazine #149, Random esoteric creature generator, Pathfinder Chronicles: Misfit Monsters Redeemed, All Flesh Must Be Eaten and Dice :). I had Trail and Call of Cthulhu on my list, but our DM decided to go with Call, and bought me a pdf, so they came off the list.
