In Case You Missed It ...
... do check out the 120-page PDF of the Game Masters Toolkit for Adventures Dark and Deep, Joe Bloch's vision of a Gygaxian AD&D Second Edition. It's a very impressive piece of work, both in terms of scope and its presentation and makes me very enthusiastic about seeing the complete work. I say this as someone whose own personal gaming tastes tend toward the rules light end of the old school spectrum, but, as I've stated before, "old school" does not equate with "rules light," despite the fact that a great many old school RPGs could be called such. But Joe has such a terrific command of his sources and a solid sense of how to use them to produce a good game that I'm keenly interested in the development of Adventures Dark and Deep. Here's hoping we see a lot more of it over the course of this year.
Many thanks for the mention, James!
ReplyDeleteAnd just in case folks want the download for the Players Manual, all of the most-current download links are available at http://www.adventuresdarkanddeep.com, including the link to the forums.
Thanks again!
Intriguing! I somehow missed this. Thanks for mentioning it.
ReplyDeleteI just started reading this and the player's guide and so far I like what I've seen
ReplyDeleteIntriguing. I played rather more AD&D than D&D, so this is interesting.
ReplyDeleteAt least from a quick glance I can see that you can have a proper sauna without killing yourself - ISTR the Wilderness Survival Guide had somewhat damaging environmental effects...
