Just in case you were wondering, work on Petty Gods is proceeding, albeit slower than expected. I'll have an update on that sometime this coming week, so please don't pester me about it. I feel bad enough for how long it's taken me to tie up the last few loose ends from it as it is.
In the meantime, though, enjoy this awesome cover image, produced by Thomas Denmark, which strikes exactly the right chord with me. I can't tell you how blown away I was when I saw it. Bravo.
Holy Mackerel! Congratulations and pass along my compliments to the chef, won't you?
ReplyDeleteNice.
ReplyDeleteI have been wondering...
That was petty of me.
This is a fun-looking cover! I can't wait to see the insides.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Wow, this is going to be a great looking book! Thanks for all your efforts pulling this together! :)
ReplyDeleteSuper effin' cool! Need to ask: do you think all the gods published will have an illustration?
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic. No doubt someone has already pointed out the typo on the cover? :-)
ReplyDeleteNeat cover. Well done.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I'm honored to have an entry in there. :)
ReplyDeleteRenaissance.
ReplyDeleteAny other typos?
DIG IT.
ReplyDeleteLooks impressive - eager to see it.
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!

That cover's pure classic!
ReplyDeleteBeautfiul cover art.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, and I love the OSR pastiche logo.
ReplyDeleteMy oh my. That really is a gorgeous and evocative cover. Well done and congrats to all involved in this project!
ReplyDeleteGreat cover. I especially like the figures not in the spotlight, that sort of surprise the eye as you pick up on them after the first glance. Also love the "OSR" logo -- I had to do a double-take on that one. :)
ReplyDeleteThe OSR logo is clever and the art is absolutely wonderful - but 'the Old School Renaissance community' is clunky and awkward. 'OSR' does the job for those who give a damn; why not leave off the unattractive text and just let your (James's) name stand alone? Classier, heaven knows.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! With just the right hint of humour
ReplyDeleteAce. I love it. I had no intention of buying this product; that cover has changed my mind. Yes, I am that shallow. If not shallower.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Congratulations James (and Thomas)! I can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeletePretty coll cover. Looks like this one is going on the wish list.
ReplyDeleteThe cover looks great. Really looking forward to seeing the finished product.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! This will make the perfect companion to my tattered copy of Judge's Guild's "Unknown Gods" book.
ReplyDeleteWonderful cover.
ReplyDeleteGreat cover!
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed! Again, sorry I was too lax to stat up some of my creations for inclusion. Can't wait to see the finished product :)
ReplyDeleteFantasticly awesome late 80s TSR looking cover! I can't wait to have this in my hands!
ReplyDeleteI think the fighter on the cover is looking at the Medusa. Poor shmuck. And the female thief seems to realize his error. Nice cover.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I would have been dead, I didn't notice the medusa until reading Greg's comment. I like the creature at the bottom of the stream, taking a bath. He seems to be aware of the adventurers and has a look on his face, as if to say, "Suckers."
ReplyDeleteDenmark's cover is absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Reminds me a bit of Steve Prescott, who is one of the few post-TSR D&D illustrators I enjoy.
ReplyDeleteGreat cover!
ReplyDeleteI don't even play these games but I'm determined to get a copy.
Brilliant piece of work...and I love the medusa with the tail, much like the original CotT
ReplyDeleteThanks Booberry. I like Steve's work. A lot.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular art. I love the style.
ReplyDeleteNeed to ask: do you think all the gods published will have an illustration?
ReplyDeleteThat's the plan, although I'm not certain it'll happen, since there are still quite a few illustrations outstanding and I won't be able to wait on them forever.
I like the spelled out Old School Renaissance community
ReplyDeleteThis is probably the greatest piece I've seen on an "indie" product. My only complaint is that "Petty Gods" should be ever-so-slightly higher (I didn't even notice Medusa until someone pointed it out). I loooove the OSR logo which gives it that AD&D look. I had the Dungeoneer's Survival Guide on the couch when I saw this and had to do a double take.
ReplyDelete“I feel bad enough for how long it's taken me to tie up the last few loose ends from it as it is.”
ReplyDeleteThings take as long as they take, so please don‘t feel bad. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to adding Petty Gods to my library.
Agreed on raising the 'Petty Gods' up a smidge.
ReplyDeletethere are still quite a few illustrations outstanding and I won't be able to wait on them forever
ReplyDeleteIf any are still unclaimed, I'm available.
just want to say that i loved the OSR logo in this book. i didnt knew it :D
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore the atmosphere on this piece, the stone heads really make me think of some lost ruins of ancient culture, they kind of resemble mount Nemrut stone heads.
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY needs to be some kind of deal that lets us publishers use that OSR logo!
ReplyDelete[Also nitpick: Watch that spelling of renaissance! ;) ]
