I know around 100 old kooks like this, beard, look and all, out at the Ren Faire up North. Some great musicians, some great comedians, some great story tellers. They almost all have paid their dues and then some, so they are allowed to be sixes and sevens if it makes them chill and happy.
Thanks! I used Elminster as NPC in my games. As long as he keeps the roole of the good old magic-user and sage who gaves advices and a little help, while being pretty overbooked soewhere else, it's a god fund and notr a trouble at all. I loved him as a NPC.
Elminster isn't Elminster. There's what the Realms became in mass publishing. And then there's what's in Mr. Geeenwood's head. I remember reading the "Ecology of ..." and "Swords of ..." articles in Dragon back in the early 80's and all I have to say is props to the original Elminster.
That doesn't surprise me, Ed has always seemed a tad eccentric, that doesn't make him a bad person... just.. eccentric. I find it pretty funny :)

ReplyDeleteYou are right; I am horrified.
ReplyDeleteGreenwood's contributed much to the game (not all of it for the good, IMO) but there's a real thin line between this and Blackwolf the Dragonmaster.
