  1. Speaking of something you have reviewed, are you aware that Chaosium is running a Kickstarter for Pendragon Classic? They're reprinting the 1e box set, making it thicker with a bunch of the original supplements included. Pretty cool!

    1. I am aware and am pretty excited about it.

    2. Is this worth getting if I already have the 5th edition rulebook? I’m wondering in particular how the first edition plus The Pendragon Campaign compares to the 5th edition plus The Great Pendragon Campaign.

    3. Unless you have a particular affection for the 1st edition, I honestly don't see any reason to pick it up. The 5th edition is a great edition IMO.

    4. One reason I ask is that you were enthusiastic about The Boy King, but I thought I read somewhere you finding The Great Pendragon Campaign a bit railroady (sp?). And The Pendragon Campaign was a precursor to The Boy King, but I don’t know whether Stafford had his five-phase historical structure already..

  2. Thanks James. It's interesting to see behind the scenes on things like reviews.

I have a question. Can you please tell us again how you decide what to post on blogspot, substack and patreon? This felt like something that could be on blogger. Thanks.

    1. In general, I've decided to divvy up my posts as follows:

Blogger gets my general musings about the hobby, pulp fantasy, games I'm playing, reviews, and news.

Substack is for my current projects I hope to publish, specifically Thousand Suns second edition, Secrets of sha-Arthan, and the Grognardia anthologies.

Patreon is where I'm posting all my Dream-Quest material, since I'm not sure I'll ever actually finish it for publication. However, the main purpose of Patreon is for people who want to send me a little money to help support my continued writing of the blog.

The divisions between the three platforms are porous, so I won't claim I'm wholly consistent about what gets posted where. In a perfect world, I'd have only one site for everything and all my readers would pay me to keep writing, but, since that's not going to happen, I'm experimenting to see which ones work best toward achieving my goal of turning Grognardia into something I can do more seriously than I already do.

    2. Thanks for the explanation, and good luck!
