Dwimmermount Play by Post

For those who are interested, I'm going to be running a Dwimmermount play by post game over at the OD&D Discussion boards. The game will be something of an experiment on several levels, so I'm hoping I get a goodly number of players. The face-to-face Dwimmermount game is continuing, of course, but I am curious to see how well the campaign's format and my own refereeing style translates into a new medium. I've had mixed success with play by post games in the past. Here's hoping this new effort is one of the good ones.

  1. And when should the game be started?

  2. I'm going to start it a week from today, assuming I have at least six players by then. I want to give people time to create characters and decide all the little things they need to before the campaign kicks off.

  3. Sounds like fun, James. Please count me in.

By 'play by post' ,do you mean using forum postings or old fashioned snail mail?

    Cheers,

    Richard

  4. It'll be done by forum postings. Just follow the link and register at the OD&D Discussion forums, if you haven't already. There are some threads that describe the game, my house rules, and how to generate a character.

  6. And we can assume one post per player per day, right?

  7. Oh, wow... Must Play! :-) :-)

"Kroth, Warrior of the Northern Wastes" sound ok? Of course I may get 3 STR...

  9. All the information needed to play the game is available at the OD&D Discussion forum I linked to above.

The number of posts will probably vary, depending on interest but I do not expect anyone to post more than once a day, if that.

  12. Carl,

There are still plenty of spots in the campaign, so never fear. I'm quite happy to run a large number of people through Dwimmermount if I get them.

  13. Valandil,

The joy of OD&D is that it's the simplest version of the game to play. I'd be happy to have you along if you'd like to give it a whirl. Feel free to ask any questions you might have and I'll answer them, if I can.

  14. Hm,well,I just entered the world of D&D a few months ago,DMing 3.5,so I dont have a complete understanding of the rules, except for what I've read here on your blog. If you can stand a total newbie among your players, I'll be glad to learn and join your game. I have registered on OD&D Discussion, and I'm thinking of a Dwarf...

  15. Valandil,

I'd be happy to have join in if you're interested. Just take a look at the character generation thread and follow the instructions there. I can lead you through anything you find confusing or that's unfamiliar to you.
