I'm home again and digging my way through several hundred emails, comments, and other communications. Good to see that the world didn't slow down while I was away. Fortunately, the last few days did afford me the chance to catch up on some reading.
Posts will resume once I've caught up on everything that needs more immediate attention.
Oh, dear... an Orioles fan? My deepest sympathies on this, the summer of your discontent.
ReplyDeleteOf course, while my team is winning, we're still doing it in a way that has made the unofficial slogan for the season ring out across the Bay: Giants baseball- Torture!

ReplyDeleteIt's been the summer of my discontent for a long time now. Being an Orioles fan is a lot like being a Cubs fan -- only with slightly more World Series victories.
Looking forward to your take on the Flame Princess. Need to know if my lust for it is justified.
ReplyDeleteYou killed someone on the beach for a copy of LotFP? Dude, you're hardcore! ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL!
Hmmm...either your copy is larger than mine or you are a smaller person than I thought!

ReplyDeleteAs any of my long-distance psycho-analysts will tell, of course I'm a short guy.
I just want to say, this is an awesome photograph. Without it, I'm not sure I could have imagined Finnish literature in a tropical climate.
ReplyDelete; )
James will be thrilled with your beach reading material. How is it?
ReplyDelete@Flambeaux: He killed them *with* a copy of LotFP. Human blood is the only thing that catalyses the invisible ink of the Super Secret Extra Easter Egg Bonus Content. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow is it?
ReplyDeleteIt's superb. I'll be writing a formal, multi-part review this week most likely, but I'll say now that it's an excellent piece of work. I have lots of quibbles about various design decisions Jim made (Ascending AC ...) but they're quibbles, not serious criticisms. My biggest complaint, honestly, is the cost, which I think will limit its appeal outside hardcore old school circles and that's a shame.

ReplyDelete@ JB - I don't think that's a tropical locale. See anyone actually in the water? As an enthusiastic life-long body surfer, I was astounded to find a couple of years ago that the water in New England is near freezing even in August. That was a short swim, I'll tell ya.
Lake Ontario?
ReplyDeleteWord Verification: Coled - the water is very coled in Lake Ontario.
Lake Ontario?
ReplyDeleteYep. We visited Prince Edward County and Sandbanks Provincial Park. It's a very beautiful area but hardly "tropical" by any stretch of the term, though the weather was gorgeous nonetheless.
You guys are viewing the picture totally wrong -- that's not a dead body at all. James in on a "nude beach" and is still more interested in LotFP than anything else. As a lifetime geek, I totally get it....
