Hey Look!

Anyone reading this ever encounter one of these figures? I must confess that, until I saw this advertisement, I was completely unaware of the existence of Fighting Fantasy miniature figures. Interestingly, the figures seem to have been made of plastic rather than metal, which, unless I'm mistaken, was unusual at the time. Mind you, I was never a huge collector of minis, so I speak largely from ignorance.

    1. Ooh I didn't realise there was more than the one featured in the advert. They never materialised in my local hobby shop. I do remember thinking that the large size was a bit daft at the time, being conditioned to 25mm.

  2. These are actually quite large iirc. Citadel Journal recommended their use as Chaos and Mountain Giants among 25mm minis I believe.

  3. I came across two (an orc and a goblin) this evening while clearing out an old box of miniatures. As a child, I used to use the orc as a balrog and the goblin as a giant (in 28mm scale). I seem to recall that they were very widely available for a short time - I think I bought those two with pocket money at the local newsagent. They came with a variety of weapons, including a sci-fi gun.

If you look at the photos in third-edition Warhammer, there's a FF ogre being used as a giant (alongside a lot of Chronicle black orcs).

    1. I should add that they were made of a softish plastic - like 1/72 or 1/32 toy soldiers.
