James Maliszewski took the Hardest Gary Gygax Quiz in the World and got 90%!
You are a Gary Gygax Lord. Wow, you know a lot about Gary Gygax! My guess is that you are one of those Old School Renaissance guys, or else your last name is Gygax. Seriously, I didn't think anyone would do this well on this quiz.

Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI only got 50%. I blanked on a couple things, and I don't know much of anything about Gord the Rogue, other than I thought the books were terrible when I was a kid.

ReplyDeleteYou are a Gary Gygax Swashbuckler. You are cunning in the ways of Gary Gygax. You've probably been to Gen Con once or twice, and if I searched your house, I bet I'd find a Gary Gygax autograph, a humorous D&D-related T-shirt, and/or a stack of Dragon magazines.

Not terrible!
Dang, only 60%... I thought I knew my Gygax trivia better! I am a myrmidon.
ReplyDeleteI got the same score as James the first time around, but I just had to get it perfect. Questions 3 and 7 are what I got wrong.
ReplyDeleteJust a Hero here...with my poor score of 40% I need to study more.
ReplyDeleteI got 80 percent, which makes me feel like a real nerd. Saddest of all was remembering Chert's name.
ReplyDeleteHeh, I got 60%, which is not bad considering that I'm not a D&D person in the slightest. I credit it all to OSR osmosis.
ReplyDeleteOSRosis?
50 % with no google :(
ReplyDeletehad no clue about the 2 gord questions
LOLed at:
ReplyDeleteYou are a Gary Gygax Champion. If knowledge of the minutiae of Gary Gygax's life translated to political power, you would be the satrap of a continent-sized province, owing allegiance to no one (except maybe that Grognardia guy).
I got the same as James, surprisingly.
ReplyDeleteHey, I got 50%, and darn proud of it!
ReplyDelete70% with no google. At least two of which I think I know from reading your site.
ReplyDelete30%, which is higher than I made on the quiz about polearms.
ReplyDelete60% with no Google or hints from the combox here.
ReplyDeleteAnd may I say, James, that you're a mensch!
I got 70% my first go around.
ReplyDelete100% here, but I can't for the life of me remember the answer to the bonus question. Anyone have their Gord books handy, mine are in storage?
ReplyDelete60% without Google.
ReplyDeleteThe answer to the bonus question, dhowarth33, is "Brool!"
ReplyDelete60% without Google (or looking stuff up)
ReplyDelete90% Lord, no Google usage. Although I felt like I was guessing on a lot.
ReplyDeleteThe real crazy thing is on the bonus question -- I felt like I had no idea (almost left it blank), zenned out, wrote what felt like semi-random characters, and actually got it right. Figure that shit out.
Solid 60% without Google. Read the first Gord book once, so I was hopeless on those questions. For the life of me, I don't know where I picked up knowledge about Gary's employment history.
ReplyDelete50%, no google. I got most of the Gord ones as I quite liked those books as a kid but couldn't rememember the barbarians axe word.
ReplyDeleteThat was fun.
Several of those questions are misleading because of confusion over company names. Don Kaye was a cofounder of Tactical Studies Rules. That company was dissolved on Kaye's death, and a new, separate company, TSR Inc., was created. At that point, "TSR" didn't legally stand for anything, though the letters clearly were chosen as a legacy from Tactical Studies Rules. But those were two different corporate entities with different names and different founders. Using "TSR" to refer to "Tactical Studies Rules" really confuses the issue.
ReplyDeleteI got 70% without cheating. Never read Gord so my chance of getting those right was nil. Also, Steven you are a huge nerd. That is all.
ReplyDelete40%, no google, and I got marked off for "Brul" as the answer to the bonus question.
