I prefer the previous one. I do feel that for game-ability, the terrain features have to completely fill a particular hex (to avoid ambiguity about "am I in the little clear slice on the left, or rougher slice on the right?")
While the harn style map has more cartographic feel, it is less intuitive to read. I had to reference the key to understand it.
