Alex Schroeder passed on word to me that there's another One Page Dungeon Contest this year, whose deadline is April 1st. Previous years' contests produced a number of very interesting entries (which you can download here and here), so I have little doubt that this year will be any less successful.
If you'd like to participate, full details are available on this page. Good luck!
Definitely going to have to put something together--and sent the link to all my players, as well, to encourage them to get their DM-thinking caps on!
ReplyDeleteLast year one of my players submitted an entry to the contest. What a pleasant surprise! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that would be a nice surprise.
ReplyDeleteI already got a response from one:
"I don't have time to think about it right now, but I'll let it rattle around the dungeon of my subconscious for a while and see if any ideas break out."
Hopefully word can get out to the larger gaming community this time. Lots of love for the OSR, but it would be nice to see more entries and game types again. I think I'll just be a spectator this time, though...those things are way harder than they look!
ReplyDeleteDo you have any ideas in particular? I did post on RPG Geek , Paizo forums, Wizards Forums... Maybe I should try Forge and Story Games?
ReplyDeleteyou did last time as well, didn't you? It seems like the threads just sort of get buried, which you can't do much about.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like you need active involvement from bloggers outside the OSR to spread the word and sustain visibility. That's if you're interested in drawing from a larger creative base, of course...keeping it local is certainly viable. It's just cool to see lots and lots of entries.
The problem is that I don't know the new school alpha bloggers if we can call 'em that in our tiny RPG subculture. I know must be out there, but where? I'll gladly mail them if you give me some URLs or email addresses.
ReplyDeletehanks for telling us this! I'm going to give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling! I may give it a try.
ReplyDelete@Alex: you may have a look at my Dark Dungeon Vault, and see if there are new school alpha bloggers in the blog roll you might want to write to.(I've recently linked 560+ sort of active bloggers on RPGs now, but didn't sort them yet).
Link to the Vault(pardon me for the linkspam):

@Jaap: Wow! My problem, however, is to find the alpha blogs in the big collection of 560+ ... The same thing happens when you look at my Old School RPG Planet (feel free to import those blogs into your list if you have not already?) — what we need is some sort of ranking. :)
