Which One are You?

My son is very fond of a series of comic books called Stone Rabbit, the most recent installment of which is entitled Dragon Boogie. The series focuses on an as-yet-unnamed rabbit (his not having an official name is a sly running joke throughout the series) and his animal friends, as they imagine themselves having adventures after the fashion of different genres of books and movies. Dragon Boogie, as you might expect, tackles fantasy, which would have been amusing in itself, but what made it particularly funny to me was the way the comic segued into its fantasy narrative.

I mentioned this section to my older daughter, who has played D&D with me in the past, and said how funny I found it. Without missing a beat, she then asked me, "So, which one are you?"

To clarify, my question -- and my daughter's -- is in reference to what the turtle says in the last panel on the bottom right.

  1. I suspect that I am the one with the box (can't tell what kind of animal that's supposed to be), trying to inflict a new game on my friends. =)

  2. Both.  Though I'm slowly but surely becoming less socially-awkward.

  3. I see nothing mutually exclusive in the two.

But I'd tag myself as the former.

  4. I must fully fall into the nerd camp.  I am a graduate student, a role playing gamer, a non-profit program director, collector of comic books and old rpg magazines, and my friends and I insanely decided to try to make a documentary about role playing games and those who play them and launched its funding on Kickstarter.

Given how much I've had to talk with and email other people, let alone control myself and not tweet continuously about the project, I think I can say I'm not overly socially awkward.

To avoid seeming a spammer, as I am a regular reader and very infrequent commenter who owns many a Rogue product and have backed Dwimmermount, I will not mention the name of the doc.  Though I would desperately love for James to participate.

Come to think of it, that was pretty socially awkward.  Damn!  I guess I'm both.

  5. The only possible answer for me is "yes".

  6. Oh...and...damn you for showing my another thing that my 4 year old twin daughters History and Mystery will adore.  The girls can be seen visiting a session of Dragons & Stuff on my Google+ page.

    Wait, was that rhetorical quesiton?

    I can never tell.

  8.  This stereotype stuff pisses me off a lot;  D&D has such a bad image now.

But I'm pretty nerdy and awkward.  And a metal head.

  9. I suppose I am both.

  10. I am too bad at math and computer wizardry to be a certified pocket protector carrying nerd.

  11. My wife would say, without hesitation, that I am a closet "nerd."  I'd like to think that I was never particularly socially awkward, though.   (But maybe that just reflects in inaccurate sense of self...)
