Very ominious... I have to admit that Dark Sun came after my playing days and well after I'd stopped reading TSR novels and I knew really little about it until The CRPG Addict covered the computer game on his blog. It now appears I missed a pretty cool expansion!
That one's bothered me for over thirty years now. Setting aside the questionable scale and screwy light sourcing that makes it look like the "dark sun" has a much brighter binary twin somewhere beyond it, the back side of the planet on the foreground should be pitch black other than artificial light sources, not the brightest point on the surface. The color choices are nice an it is an iconic image for the product line, but it makes my inner astronomer very angry indeed.
