I am slow

It's taken me 30 years to notice this, but the titular hill giant chief of module G1 is named Nosnra. Am I an idiot or what?

I now feel like the most inattentive person *ever*. But I've never seen that pointed out anywhere, even on the "find the hidden references in D&D" type threads.

  2. Haha. I must admit, I'd never noticed this either. I always liked how Nosnra was such an original, Giant-sounding name. Silly me.

  3. It recently occured to me that the bearded Wardent (paraphrasing, 'contrary to rumor, wardents have never been known to mate with sleeths') was probably James M Ward's cameo in Gamma World.

And then, hunting up for a pic I discovered where Drawmij came from. D'uh!

  5. I got those two, but it took me forever to realize that Vecna was an anagram for Vance (as in Jack)... And I'm a Jack Vance fan...argh.

  6. I just was reading this module, and decided to Google it to confirm my suspicion and found this page. Pretty shameful to give "a grossly fat and thoroughly despicable creature, sly and viscious, loving ambush and backstabbing" such a name.
