Erol Otus Art Challenge

Fight On! magazine is again sponsoring a contest in conjunction with Otherworld Miniatures. This time it's an art contest, judged by legendary D&D illustrator Erol Otus. Full details on the contest and its rules can be found here.

Times like this make me wish I had even an ounce of artistic ability.

  1. Having not even the artistic skill of a 2 year old (although as a teen I drew pretty good doodles of cops beating up hippies on my Pee Chee folder), being able to draw was one thing I wish I could do as far as being a DM goes.

Three or four times in the last three decades I have had a player briefly who wowed the players by knocking out drawings of characters and encounters. I could really go for more of that.

  2. My submission:

    I kid. I kid. :)

Too much time on my hands, I suppose.

  3. I have to say, this is a most intimidating contest! Must come up with something cool...

  4. The prize might induce me to try to make a virtue of necessity. I doubt that I'll become the illustrators' analog of certain determined (and skilled!) guitarists, but what's to lose?

  5. Erol Otus is perhaps the most iconic of all classic D&D artists. His work is instantly recognizable and burns itself into your brain. Waycool contest.
