  1. That inside cover art is fantastic!  In every sense of the word.

  2. Yeah, really impressed. Super regret not ordering it before April 1. At least I'm still getting the limited edition.

  3. Much thicker and heavier that I was expecting. Looking forward to running a few sessions at Free RPG Day

  9. Wow, that's pretty. I wish I had known this was being worked on- I guess I'll have to hope I get an LE copy from my FLGS.

  10. Well, we obviously won't be hearing from you for the next few days... <grin>

    Enjoy!

  12. That's impressive - I wish there was a retro clone with that sort of production values (and product support). As much as I like the OSR, if it doesn't move beyond a fan-hobbyist perspective and into real business, it's not going to affect many people

  13. James, blows my regular edition away.  Definitely a work of art ;)

  14. Not sure how you can move the OSR out of the fan-hobbyist type publishing to something larger.  How many companies producing RPGs are employing more than 1 person, let alone a full time salary?

In the D&D/OGL corner I can think of WotC, Paizo, Troll Lords and probably Goodman.  Did I miss anyone?

  15. I also expected it to be leaner.  Maybe because the beta was fewer pages?  That's a real disincentive for me.

but I love the cover and art on the inside page!

  16. Kinda on the fence in regards to the game itself(  old school style D&D is already plenty tough ) but that  sure is one beautiful lookin' tome. None the less, If  I buy it or not, my hat's of to you Sir Goodman.

  17. Wow, looks amazing, but the word "unwieldy" does spring to mind. I suppose it's essentially a 3 in 1: player's handbook, DMG & monster manual.

  18.  Pretty.  Not sure I need another d20 Fantasy game though.  Still, that is one gorgeous looking book, if the photographs do the rest of it justice.

  19. It seems pretty bulletproof, like HERO. :D

  20. And my first thought was how long before the chain mail bikini rants start. Sad.

    Looks awesome tho

  21. I must be getting old. No sir, I don't like it. It looks like it is trying too hard.

  22. I got the stock cover and I think it's pretty awesome as well. The pages are very thick. It's about 70 fewer pages than my Pathfinder Core Rulebook and still about 15 % thicker overall (but oddly, the book is lighter weight). I hope the binding holds up.

  23. Schmexy. Hefty and pretty!

If it has a sewn binding -- WIN.

If it's glued -- QUANTUM FAIL.

  26. Binding is both sewn an glued.

  27. Don't be fooled by the size. If you removed the art (which is literally overflowing, no other RPG I own compares to this in sheer amount) and reduced the font, which is surprisingly large, I bet you could reduce this to about 200 pages. Of that only a small portion is rules and most of it would be taken up by the massive spell tables, monster section, and two included adventures.

If I saw this on the shelves I probably wouldn't even consider it buying it due to it's size. It looks like it is going to have the complexity of Pathfinder but it's very misleading. It's almost shocking to think how much this could have been reduced in size to save on costs and I applaud Goodman Games for going all out here on production value.

  28. Gawdz...

If I knew it was like that I might have bought it!

As it is, love it on the PDF version and wish I could buy the modules PDF also...
