Suspense

Thanks to a reader, I was delighted to learn that H.P. Lovecraft's "The Dunwich Horror" had been adapted into a 30-minute radio drama on Suspense. The adaptation, which premiered on November 1, 1945, is an abridged version of the tale told in an unconventional way but it's not unfaithful to HPL's original. It's also notable for its casting of Ronald Colman in the role of Dr Henry Armitage. It's worth a listen if you've got half an hour.

  2. The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society also did an audio drama of “The Dunwich Horror” as well as dramas for “The Call of Cthulhu.” “The Dreams In The Witch House,” “At The Mountains of Madness,” and others. hplhs.org

  3. I don't think there are any episodes of Suspense left that I haven't listened to. Big fan of OTR shows, especially the war era ones. Whole different world back then, and its reflected in the media of the day.

  5. They're a few years old now, but the BBC did a series called The Lovecraft Investigations: they take place in the modern era, but are quite well done.
