Ave Atque Vale!Hail and Farewell.
Has it really been two years? :/
R.I.P.Last year I held a E.G.G. Memorial one-off game but this year my schedule doesn't permit it for today. Perhaps this weekend.
Je de bravo Monsieur Gygax.
Rest in peace Sweet Prince
Rest in peace, Gary. You are missed.
They say that the true measure of a hero lies not in the greatness of their actions, but in the greatness their actions inspire in others. For inspiring an entire generation of writers, artists, and other creative people (myself included) this man will always be my hero.
I'm looking forward to going to GaryCon in a few weeks so that we can honor Gary's memory as an avid gamers. I think it's a wonderful testimony to his life and legacy that his son Luke organizes such an event. It's going to be three days of old school gaming for you grognards. Best of all, it's just a chance to remember someone who had an affect on some of our greatest moments of leisure time.
Ðu eart ingemynde, leof!
2 years already. I'll have to try and have a memorial game next year, though I might make it Chainmail rather than D&D.
i sm dure you havs more FLATTERING picture for a manwho inspired millions
Clovis: He looks very happy in that picture. It's candid and his personality comes right through. He looks like he is laughing, or is about to burst into laughter. Thus, I think the picture is QUITE flattering.
Actually, that pic is probably the most flattering recent picture, it's just that James cropped a close-up of a low-res JPG I guess. The full picture shows him with dice in his hand and the Lejendary books on a game table. A lot of people added the unofficial quote "Are you sure you want to do that?"
>sm dure you havs more FLATTERING picture for a manwho inspired millions<I'm dure you havs know clue wot a phlatering pichture iz...
Here's a link to the full sized pic:http://anatema.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/gary-gygax.jpgAlso, is Uncle Gary a member of the Order of d30?!
@ brunoscroll down to the bottom of my blog and have a nice life : - )
RIP Mr Gygax. Thank you for the fun times! Let us also remember Tom Moldvay who also died in the same month but a year earlier.
RIP Gary Gygax, spinner of tales and creator of worlds, may your own destination be as wondrous as your own creations.
R.I.P Mr Gygax! Your memory lives on forever!
"The full picture shows him with dice in his hand and the Lejendary books on a game table. A lot of people added the unofficial quote "Are you sure you want to do that?""Followed by, "Heh, heh, heh..." :o)Sure do miss those Thursday nite get-together! :o(Thanks for everything, Gary!!
"Edward/Clovis(?)": No thanks, but I checked it already before, and I'm not sure I can handle the loud sucking sound again so soon. It's deafening.Sorry I made fun of your typing. I guess I should have just been serious when smacking down a clueless shmuck whose only comment about Gary's two-year is the photo of the man. Considering he was elderly and in declining health, I think it is a great pick. You, dude, are an idiot. It's ironic icing on the cake that you think of yourself as an intellectual (big difference between that and being a blowhard, my man).God bless Gary, no matter the pic. Thanks for the reminder, James.
@ Booberry, Deogolf, JRT and JJthank you for pointing out my errorenjoyed the link
