Dwellers Art

While I'm on a high from happy memories of Dwellers of the Forbidden City, here's an evocative piece by Jim Roslof from the module. It certainly has a very Conan-esque flair to it, don't you think?

  1. Roslof doesn't get enough props. He was the first guy I got to do a commission for me.

  2. Unsurprisingly, I agree with you:

  3. Has anyone seen that guy on the left and Conan in the same place at the same time? Keep in mind that this notorious pirate and brigand has used many aliases in his day.

  4. Yes indeed - Roslof does really nice work.

  5. I always WANTED to picture myself as the guy on the left --- brave, virile, handsome. Somehow, I suspect that if I were to be magically transported to the fantasy world, I would be more like the guy on the right --- a slack-jawed doofus who is standing there saying, "Oh shit oh shit oh shit" while it is going down.
And what's up witht the tentacle coming in the window in the back?
Roslof is one of the greats. I loved the stuff he did for the Finnish mythos in Deities and Demigods

  6. I have to agree. He's one of the Old School artists I liked best. Out of interest, can someone give me a ball park figure of what he charges for a commision?

  7. HERO: "My lackey has a cure poison potion waiting for me, beast. I doubt you have a cure beheading potion waiting for you."
    SNAKE: "S-s-s-s-shucks!"

    Ciao!

  8. Nice piece, unusual greyscale half tone background really frames the foreground figures.
