Urheim: Southern Tower

Map by FrDave
As with the first entry in this ongoing series, I would appreciate constructive criticism of this one, particularly with regards to its presentation. Urheim is an evolving project and I am regularly tweaking previous posts in order to improve them for clarity and content. There is now a page, linked at the top of the blog, that collects all the currently existing posts, along with some of those yet to come for ease of reference. When I am able to afford to do so, I will commission artwork to accompany the entries where appropriate. I also have vague plans of collecting the entries into better laid out form, downloadable as a PDF, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. Urheim is a long-term project and I am in no hurry.

Southern Tower

T.1 Tower

6 Berserkers

  • Former members of the Sword Sworn Company, cursed by their participation in the original assault on the monastery.
  • The curse takes the form of battle-madness, which renders them nigh irrational and insensate.
  • If somehow captured, they know nothing of value, except the name Foulque, which they jabber mindlessly.
  • Each berserker carries 12cp.

AC 7 [12], HD 1+1* (2, 3, 6, 6, 6, 8hp), Att 1 × sword (1d8), THAC0 18 [+1], MV 120' (40'), SV D12 W13 P14 B15 S16 (1), ML 12, AL Neutral, XP 19.

T.2 Western Wall

Debris: Immense pile of shattered stones.

T.3 Southern Wall

Debris: Extensive agglomeration of rubble.

  • Searching through the rubble disturbs a nest of 4 giant centipedes.
  • Amidst the rubble is also a small wooden box containing a silver ring inscribed with the name "Herleva" (worth 100 gp).

4 Giant Centipedes

AC 9 [10], HD ½* (1, 2, 3, 3hp), Att 1 × bite (poison), THAC0 19 [0], MV 60' (20'), SV D14 W15 P16 B17 S18, ML 7, AL Neutral, XP 6.

Ruins

R.30 Penitentiary

Debris: Mix of blasted stone and rotting wood.
  • Even a casual search reveals a small leather scourge with eight knotted tails. It is a penitential instrument and useless as a weapon.

  1. If you don’t have it already, perhaps a “library data” file for things like “sword sworn company” and “foulque” - unless these are deliberately for the gm to come up with.

    1. That's a good idea. I'll need to figure out a way to set that up on the blog, but I think you're right to suggest it.

      Thanks!

  2. I think you might be able to move the berserkers' cash treasure to their statblock?

It's obviously not something you can do now, but I agree with the spirit of Alistair's comment - if you could put a page number reference next to things like Sword Sword Company, Foulque, and Herleva, I think that would help the person running the game double-check for relevant details.
