Urheim: Southwest Ruins

Map by FrDave

Today is the first day of virtual Gamehole Con, where I will be refereeing several Empire of the Petal Throne events, so posting will be scarcer today and tomorrow. However, the next major installment of Urheim is offered up for your enjoyment. As always, constructive criticism, particularly about presentation, is welcomed and indeed encouraged. While I may not be able to act on all the suggestions immediately, I definitely take them into account and will make use of them, when time and resources allow.

Southwest Ruins

R.1 Tithe Barn

See Lower Gatehouse.

R.2 Stables

See Lower Gatehouse.

R.4 Dormitory

Debris: A mass of rotting timbers and a few large sections of stone.
  • A short search through the detritus turns up a pair of gray monastic habits in wearable condition. Donning one has no obvious immediate benefit but can be used to fool the eidolons that linger in the Lower and Upper Catacombs.

R.5 Mill

Debris: Huge pile of wooden beams mixed with shattered stone.
  • Immediately obvious are millstones of various sizes, all broken and unusable.
  • The sound of running water can be heard beneath the rubble. Spending three turns clearing the debris uncovers a large, man-made hole into which a broken wooden shaft has been inserted. The area around the hole is wet.
  • Also to be found in the debris are jute sacks, inside some of which are the remains of grain (wheat and barley).

R.6 Kitchen

Debris: Mostly rotting wood.
  • Remnants of pottery and stoneware can be found easily, as can the remains of a masonry oven.

R.7 Brewery

Debris: A large jumble of wet, rotting wood.
  • Two large intact wooden kegs can be found amidst the wood. The kegs contain spoiled beer, which tastes terrible, but is otherwise harmless.
  • Running water can be heard beneath the area.
  • Searching through the debris arouses several dozen rats that have taken up residence in the jumble.
  • The rats have collected 2 small gems worth 10 gp each.

R.8 Bakehouse

Debris: Piles of stones and a largely intact oven.

R.9 Storehouse

Debris: Broken wooden planks and boards.

  • Beneath the wood can be found a coiled length of rope (50'), a lantern, and an empty waterskin.

R.10 Laundry

Debris: Splintered wood.

R.11 Tithe Barn

Debris: Deep pile of wood.
  • Any attempt to search through the pile causes three pit vipers to emerge and attack.
